Political Disappointment.

So today was the leadership challenge in Australian Politics.  Where the former PM took on the Current PM and lost.  It is with a heavy heart that I say that he lost.  The Australian Voting public wanted the former PM to get back up.  We wanted him to have another shot at the job he was rolled from.

When Kevin Rudd was rolled as Prime Minister of Australia he had an approval rating of 52% and look to gain 18 seats at the next election.  But to the Labor party this wasn't good enough and rolled him putting in the deputy PM in his place.  They were banking on her winning the vote because she was and would be the first female Prime Minister.  What they failed to recognise was the voting public's hatred of the woman who took the top job against the wishes of the Australian Public.  According to the Labor Caucus 52% approval rating wasn't good enough for them.

So what is their excuse for not rolling Julia Gillard who currently holds an approval rating of 26% of the voting public.  This is one of the lowest approval ratings of a PM in the history of Australian Politics.  This will account for a loss of 30 seats at the next election.  Labor has a long long way to go to gather the support of the voting public.  And they have today proved that they just don't care what the public wants.  There was an overwhelming public support for Kevin Rudd, yet they put back in Julia Gillard.

On the thought that Kevin Rudd was going to be Prime Minister as a party they gained 3 points.  For the 2 party preferred they gained 2 points(2nd party is the Liberal/National/Democratic party coalition) Yet in this same time Julia Gillard LOST 6 points.  She went from 32% approval to 26% approval.  We don't like her.  We have never forgiven her for Rolling the PM we voted in with a major Majority.  She didn't learn her lesson at the last election where the Australian Public forced a hung Government and she now leads a minority Government.

This is a sad day in Australian politics as the politicians have proven that they just don't care what their electorates want.
