This is a bit of a tradition with us, the good old Sunday roast. Any time that husband isn't working and it's a Sunday we have over my father in law for a Sunday roast winter, summer, spring or Autumn. I love it, it brings us together as a family for a while and we eat and talk around the dinner table as a normal family.
I miss these days when husband is working and long for him to get off the shifts that stop these days. After a long day sitting at the table to a nicely roasted(if I do say so myself) leg of lamb and roasted veggies is a highlight of my week.
Your family should think about doing it. It's fun and brings back days of old.

A right Royal Macca's(McDonald's) Fuck up
Today was my youngest child's birthday party. We decided to have it at McDonald's. I did the right thing went in to book the party and was told to do it online. So I came home and booked the party online. Then I waited and waited and waited for the conformation email and nothing came so I went back to McDonald's and told them how I hadn't received my conformation email about the party. They took my details and told me they would call me the next day to fix the issue. The call never came so 4 days later I was back at McDonald's talking to them again.
This time they told me yes the party was book for the 10th of March for 11:30am til 12:30pm in the afternoon gave me the invitations and sent me on my way with a see you on the 10th. Invitations went out all but 1 person said they were coming(not bad out of 10 invites) and we were all set or so you would think.
Today we got to the Macca's 15 minutes early and THEY HAD NO RECORD OF THE PARTY AT ALL. Just some vague reference to it. So they had 15minutes to set up a party I had been planning for 14 days. I did what they said I took the easier route of booking it online and they still MESSED IT UP. Thankfully they didn't have another party booked and scrambled to get ours sorted before the guests arrived. I was so angry I had done everything right did what they said and they still messed it up. Luckily youngest had no idea of the stuff up and had a great party in the end.
Oh and it turns out their party planner had quit a month earlier and they hadn't hired a new one. I think Monday morning I may take myself down there and offer them my services as their new party planner working Monday to Friday 9:30am til 2pm making sure no one else suffers this kind of stuff up.

Dear Children's School
Dear school
Please note that I know my child better than you. So when I inform you this morning that Child number 3 is faking a sore neck please believe I know what I am talking about. I knew she was faking it because of certain thing number 1 being that she uses the same sort of thing but her knee to get out of doing stuff she is suppose to be doing like sleeping. 2 I tested her on the way to school by pointing out things that she had to turn her head to look and she did so with NO pain indicators.
So Please DON'T send her home. She slept for an hour(she was tired) and then got up and asked me to take her back to school because her neck was all better now. I knew she didn't have a sore neck I knew she was damn well tired and using it as an excuse to stay home and sleep and NOT go to school. Damn just listen to me next time.
One now very angry and frustrated mother. I had a lunch date with Husband that we now have to cancel due to her put on and we only ever get this time together when he is off work and the kids are at school.

Why I wish husband wouldn't get a 9 to 5 job.
Husband has started talking about going for a promotion which is great as it's a pay rise however it means he would go from shift work to a 9 till 5 job I don't know what I would do with him if he was home all the time I finally have thing under control without him here. If he was home every single night I would have to change the way I do things to accommodate him and I don't really want to(yes petty I know)

Why do children have to grow up?
I am feeling a little down today, 6 years ago on this day I gave birth to my 3rd and final child and now she is 6. It's not fair where did my cute little baby go? And who is this independent child who replaced her? It's not like I haven't gone through this before I have twice now. It's just a bit harder when it's your baby. You have to let them go past the "baby" stage and let them move on and upwards to tweenage hood.
It gets even worse when your 10 year old daughter has the same size foot you do(ladies 8) and is half a head shorter than you. Where did that baby go and who the hell told her she could grow so tall? And my son isn't far behind his eldest sister at a head shorter than me and is turning into a fine young man right in front of my eyes. And do you know what makes me sad? The fact that my husband has missed half of it. His missed all of the children's first steps, he got to hear their first words(dad, ball and finally MUM) His work has been so demanding of his time(which amuses me greatly because it's suppose to be "family friendly").
So here I am sitting here today bemoaning to myself the fact that my baby is now 6. I was thinking earlier today that maybe I could go another one then I realised that I have passed the baby stage, toddler stage, screaming tantrum stage(mostly) and I am slowly moving on to the next chapter of parenthood, the dreaded teenage years, yet oddly enough they don't fill me with dread. I am constantly told by my MIL(Mother in law) that I am being paid back times 3 for the horror child husband was during his childhood years. Which is fine I am coping(and getting grey hair) but coming up against my self times 3 has me rubbing my hands with glee. I can't wait. I know every trick in the book more than likely WROTE half of them. I will be able to catch them at every turn. And with Technology they way it is these days Track them at every turn.
I remember when our oldest was born husband and I were having an argument about GPS chipping our children so we could track them when they were teens, I was the no side and he was on the yes side. Now it doesn't matter we can just track them through their phones and won't tell them. I do feel sorry for them though things were so much easier when I was a child/teen none of these smartphones, no text messages or emails to parent when you wag school just a note home at the end of term my mum never bothered to read just signed LOL.
Here ends today's rantings for now. With a Big Happy 6th Birthday to my baby girl. Happy Birthday Baby mum loves you heaps.

OMG I have become my parents.
As a kid I always swore to my parents that when I was a parent I was NEVER going to be like them. Turns out I was wrong I have become my parents. I say stuff to the kids and turn around to see if my mum is there then realise it's me.
It's really disconcerting I even get my mothers tone going. When the hell did this happen? How the hell did this happen?
Don't get me wrong my mum was great(still is) but she use to have these sayings that would drive me crazy. I am sure you know them all parents use the same ones. You know the " Because I am the mum", "because I said so". "Do as I say not as I do". All the sayings used to drive children crazy and then I go and use them myself.
I suppose it could be worse I could have become my father who's idea of telling us what to do was with a smack on the butt.
I don't wanna to be my parents.

Why are people so stupid?
Seriously I seem to see and read stupid all the time every single day. Like the lady at my kids school who thinks it fine to leave her two youngest kids in the car for 15 mins every morning and every afternoon(yes I have called the police). Or the people who park their cars in the school car park on the walk way where we have to try and navigate our way through them.
Or there is the never ending stupid that I read on a daily basis from a parenting website that I am on. Today's bright spark of stupid thinks because my youngest daughter shares the same name as a tree in America that she was named after that tree. Well let me tell you dumb ass NO SHE WASN'T NAMED AFTER THE DAMN TREE. We just happened to like the name totally forgetting about the tree over there.
Really some people are just stupid I think that's way they invented the Darwin awards http://www.darwinawards.com/
It's why most things now have warning labels, They were put there for a reason people because some idiot tried it. Ok rant over.
